The Parthenon

Lake with The Parthenon near Hayes Street Hotel

You might wonder why there’s a massive recreation of a Greek monument in the middle of a city park, but a full scale replica of the Parthenon in Centennial Park makes sense once you understand the history behind it. Long known as “the Athens of the South” thanks to the abundance of colleges and universities in town, this Nashville landmark and visitor favorite was erected in 1897, the city’s centennial, as an homage to the real Athens. A fun place to visit and a great background for selfies, especially in front of the 40 foot replica of the Athena statue! It also houses Nashville’s Art Museum.
